Tsaro Construction

Janar Tsaro - Born and raised in Northern Europe (Estonia), moved to US in 2001. I've been in construction industry my whole life. When I started to design my first house in 2015, my ideas were suppressed by many architects simply because nobody was comfortable pushing the limits and get outside the norm. I started looking at alternatives to create open floor plans by not just increasing square footage but also cubic ft of the space. This meant higher ceilings and even longer spans on structural members. Can it be done? I got used to "no" as an answer. That didn't stop me to keep going after my ideas. Finally with the right architect and engineering firm in place we got the design. Now who's going to build it? After several months of interviewing contractors who didn't feel comfortable building above the standard norm. Pricing was "shot off the hip" (I don't normally do this work but for "x amount" I guess I can build it). I really didn't like what I saw so I got the books and studied. Took the NCGC exam and today I'm Unlimited NC Licensed General Contractor.
